About Us
Created in 2022 and based in Mantes-la-Jolie, Compagnie Freikopf is a collective of artists from different disciplines: contemporary circus, theatre, dance, object manipulation... Our artistic approach is resolutely transdisciplinary, combining creation, cultural action and support for artistic emergence.
The company's artists possess extensive experience on the international stage and have collaborated with renowned organizations in the performing arts. Thanks to this background, Compagnie Freikopf now enjoys international recognition, while remaining deeply rooted in a dynamic of close ties and direct connections with local communities.
We advocate for demanding and high-quality artistic work, which we share through our creations, our cultural actions and our commitment to the public, as well as by supporting a new generation of emerging artists.
Compagnie Freikopf positions itself as a mobile cultural actor, committed to a territorial approach. We carry out our actions in situ, as close as possible to the inhabitants, in places sometimes not dedicated to culture but full of meaning: public spaces, brownfield sites, working-class neighborhoods, rural areas, heritage sites...
We are supported in this endeavor by the City of Mantes-la-Jolie, which hosts us as artists-in-residence at the Chapelle Saint-Jacques – a former deconsecrated chapel that has become our base and starting point for our mobile projects. We also benefit from the support of the Grand Paris Seine & Oise (GPSEO) urban community, the Yvelines Prefecture, and the Yvelines Department within the framework of the City Policy.
In addition to our creations, we regularly organize events open to everyone: residency receptions and showings, open stages, training for professional artists, workshops and cultural activities for amateurs.
